NNPII Triple Bottom Line

NNPII is firmly committed to the integration of sustainable development into the management of our company by focusing on three bottom lines: financial, environmental and social.

The commitment to this 'Triple Bottom Line' perspective on company performance combines the traditional emphasis on historic financial results with a forward-looking focus on mutually dependent factors - social responsibility, environmental awareness and economic viability - that will determine the long-term growth opportunities of the company.

For example, if a company's social performance is poor, it can have an impact on employee attitudes. In turn, this will affect productivity, which will then affect the financial bottom line.

Likewise, if a company's environmental performance is poor, it will affect the company's goodwill among consumers. This will then affect shareholders' willingness to keep or buy shares or customers' willingness to buy the product, which will in turn impact the financial bottom line.

The aim is to ensure a business performance that is simultaneously socially responsible, environmentally sound and economically viable.

We regard the environmental, social and economic bottom lines as processes to ensure that NNPII:

  • Actively involves employees on environmental and social issues.
  • Educates employees and provides them with the opportunity of investigating and reflecting on environmental, social and economic conditions.
  • Defines objectives; reports annually to the general public via our Triple Bottom Line report and on continuing progress.
  • Integrates Triple Bottom Line principles into management so that all policies and actions contain a balance of economic financial, environmental and social perspectives and consequences.
